Our Facilities

NWP has three recycling facilities in Northern Ireland

Glenside, West Belfast

Natural World Products’ (NWP) recycling facility on a 13.7acre site of the former Glenside Quarry in Belfast is the largest of its kind on the island of Ireland. A total of 60,000 tonnes of bio-waste, such as food and garden waste, collected from households across Northern Ireland is recycled at the facility each year. The bio-waste is being diverted from landfill and will now be recycled by NWP into high quality compost and sold in garden centres as well as being used as top soil for some of Ireland’s leading golf courses. The Department of the Environment, through the Waste & Resources Action Programme WRAP), made a significant investment in the capital costs of NWP’s innovative facility by contributing £1.5 million – the largest grant of its kind to be awarded in Northern Ireland.

Portadown, Co Armagh

Transferring waste across Northern Ireland can be costly, not just in environmental terms with large numbers of lorries required to be on the road at same time but also financially. NWP transfers waste for a large number of Councils across Northern Ireland and has looked to continually improve its efficiency. As a result, NWP has created a transfer site in Portadown to centrally locate waste shipments from across Northern Ireland. In this way, NWP have been able to reduce the number of vehicles they have on the road by 40 per cent and at the same time increase their capacity to transfer waste from 8 tonne to 25 tonne loads. This has also reduced the continual number of hours staff have to drive the vehicles at one time. NWP has significantly increased its service portfolios over the last number of years which has been complemented by a significant investment in a large fleet of vehicles.

Keady, Co Armagh

NWP has invested in a multi-million pound revamp of their recycling facilities in Keady using the latest recycling technology. This venture signals the development of their work beyond traditional ‘green waste’. The service enables businesses and Councils across Northern Ireland to meet the growing number of European regulations on organic, electronic and electrical waste.
